Northern Contemporary Craft Fair
Today I attended the Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in Manchester. As always it is a feast for the eyes and senses ... and this year it was really exciting to see the graduate showcase.
Below are some of my favourites.

Michelle Laverty
I stumbled across Michelle Laverty the other day when doing some research for college. Some of her recent work has been concerned with drawing and paper pricking ... and then some elements of stitch added. Her personal statement is very interesting:
"My work evolves in a conceptual space where social and political ideas engage and collide
with processes and materials that act as metaphor for the vulnerability of the human condition.
My practice is concerned with the phenomenological belief that places emphasis on subjective human
experience in how we react to the world around us, emotionally and intellectually.
Current drives focus on endurance and repetitive actions within the context of drawing."

NEW BEGINNINGS
This is an exciting new adventure for me. I am a 3rd year Creative Practice student at MMU, and this blog is a chance for me to bring together all the influences on my work and my life. This should be an eclectic mix of design, art, food and just beautiful things! The main challenge for me is to keep the blog going and not feel it is a burden looking over my shoulder!
